California cuisine innovator Mich`l McCarty has created a midtown home for players (stars and agents) and other health-conscious, possibly bi-coastal people who want fine-dining without the dress code. The menu gives credit where credit is due: Pennsylvania veal, Eberly Farms chicken, Oregon State shiitake, Watsonville curly endive, NY Hudson Valley foie gras and Hackensack bresaola. Portions are generous, salads are popular and the wine list is fairly extensive. Art, including paintings by Jasper Johns and David Hockney, hangs upon gallery-beige walls. The atmosphere is light, lean, and perfect for seeing and being seen.
Serving a Californian and American cuisine, this is an upscale facility. Expect the average entrée to cost over $30.
Atmosphere: Michael`s has been around since the early 1980`s. The restaurant has an elegant décor. The interior is enhanced by prints. The establishment is spacious. It is romantic and relaxed.
More Reasons to Go: Michael`s is appropriate (if not ideal) for entertaining clients, anniversaries, other romantic evenings and private parties.
Eating & Drinking: Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You`ll find that there is an excellent wine list.
